Are you an avid walker looking to take it up a notch? Or maybe a runner looking for cross training or alternate activity to work around an injury? Maybe you have a joint replacement and are still active and fit but can’t run. We may just have the program for you. Power Walking with Poles is a 6 week workshop featuring on and off road Power Walking using poles. The workshop will be very active with some instruction but mostly plenty of walking… on pavement, groomed trails and single track trails. You will learn different techniques to use with different surfaces and will experience how to apply training techniques such as intervals, tempos and fartlek walks, as well as the LSD weekend walks. Things will get underway on April 30 at the K-Park School starting at 6:30 and will run 6 consecutive Mondays at various locations. You will need a set of poles and some rubber tips for the pavement based walks. There is no charge for the program and all are welcome but please note it will be very active, expect to be tired after each session.
